Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program

Atrium Health

The Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program (ASAP) has been helping adults and children participate in adaptive sports for over two decades. They help their community develop skills and overcome challenges so they can participate in sports, recreation, and lead healthy lifestyles.

Their program serves hundreds of people across the Southeast. They offer competitive avenues and community involvement for adaptive participants — and they offer one of the only programs of this kind in the Carolinas.

Logan was a patient at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georga shortly after his accident.

As a national leader in spinal cord injury rehabilitation care and research, Shepherd Center examines ways to improve the quality of life for people who have experienced a spinal cord injury (SCI). Our comprehensive spinal cord injury programs are tailored to meet individual needs to optimize recovery and improve independence in patients.

Here is where he started playing wheelchair rugby while he in the Spinal Cord Injury Day Program. He’d played high school football, and rugby was “the most contact sport out of all the wheelchair sports.” He also learned “everyday living stuff” from the older players.
